ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is offering a set of “GREEN” tips to help families include loved ones with dementia in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Experts recommend keeping festivities small and simple, avoiding loud crowds, and sticking to a familiar routine at home. They also advise skipping alcohol and offering non-alcoholic drinks in its place.
How to use the color green
Caregivers are encouraged to incorporate the color green in calming ways, such as soft blankets, simple treats, or a short outdoor walk. The foundation also suggests enjoying quiet Irish music or easy crafts together.
The foundation said its goal is to help people with dementia feel included, comfortable, and engaged during the holiday.
