Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — An Albany man was sentenced Wednesday, Jan. 21, to serve 15 years in prison for the illegal possession of a firearm, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
Devon Marquell Rambo, 28, was found guilty in May 2025 of one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

This comes after the Albany Police Department (APD) said they responded to a shooting, and then executed a search warrant. APD then reportedly found firearms at a residence that Rambo occupied alone.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that APD found a safe that contained a pistol and a semi-automatic rifle, two 9mm pistol magazines, one rifle magazine and ammunition. They said they also found Rambo’s social security card, credit card and a Texas inmate ID in the safe.
Rambo reportedly has prior felony convictions in Texas for domestic violence and burglary, officials said.
After Rambo was arrested, officers discovered that he had covered his wife’s dog, furniture and multiple areas of the residence in oil, according to a release from the United States Attorney’s Office. Officials said this was an effort by Rambo to make it more difficult for law enforcement officials to arrest him.
This case was part of Operation Take Back America, according to a press release. There is no parole in the felony system.
