ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Firefighters are working to learn what started a house fire Friday that killed several animals in Powder Springs.

The Cobb County fire department responded to a home on Ponderosa Lane, where the back was on fire and smoke was seen coming from the roof.

Crews rescued one dog, but seven others died in the fire. The resident of the home was outside when firefighters arrived.
