Description
STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - A four-year-old child is dead after a shooting at the Hamptons Apartments in Statesboro Thursday, according to Statesboro Police.
Officers say the shooting happened just before 6 p.m. and that there were several people in the apartment at the time of incident.
When officers arrived, they rendered aid to the child before turning him over to Bulloch EMS to take the child to the hospital. The child passed away at the hospital.
After getting a search warrant, interviewing multiple people who live in the apartment and family members, the evidence suggests the child got access to an unsecured gun and shot himself.
The case will be turned over to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit’s District Attorney’s Office for review.
