CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is backing a project to improve water infrastructure in the city of Cordele.

Ossoff said this effort is bipartisan and will bring federal resources to Cordele. According to a press release from the senator’s office, $250,000 will go toward this upgrade project.

The project will specifically upgrade wastewater lift systems, which is aimed at preventing sewer spills and backups, the release said.

The mayor of the city of Cordele released a statement after this announcement.

“Thank you for helping us promote growth in Highway 300 and Interstate 75 area. These funds will help support the residential and commercial growth around this rapidly growing area.”
