CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) - Fire personnel were on the scene the afternoon of June 27 following an industrial “flash fire” at a Tyson Grain Mill in Camilla.

Two third-party employees have been transported to the hospital after being burned in the fire, according to Camilla Fire Chief Jamie Sullivan. Sullivan said he is unsure of the severity of their injuries.

The two who were hospitalized were not Tyson employees, but they were contracted third-party workers at the facility. They are being treated in the burn unit of Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Camilla Fire officials said the workers were welding on an upper floor of the mill when the fire broke.

Sullivan confirmed that the industrial fire is currently under control. He said that firefighters stayed on the scene after stabilizing the situation to monitor smoldering.

Sullivan said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. He said the incident is being investigated by the Georgia State Fire Marshall’s Office because it was a high rise industrial accident.

CFD said they were assisted by the Autry State Prison Fire Department, Mitchell County Fire Department, AmeriPro EMS and Camilla Police.
