CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in La Plata, Maryland following a dispute with his stepfather, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities responded to a single-family home in the 6400 block of Huntt Road shortly after midnight, where they found the teen, Michael Clemons, shot.
According to the sheriff's office, the suspect is identified as the boy’s stepfather, 48-year-old Darshan Williams. Sources told 7News Maryland Bureau Chief Brad Bell the boy was shot following a disagreement over household chores, including raking leaves.
Sources also told 7News the stepfather was allegedly angry that the teen hadn't done said chores.

Despite life-saving efforts by deputies and medics, Clemons was pronounced dead at the scene.
Williams was standing outside, arrested without incident, and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and other related charges, officials said. He's in custody at the Charles County Detention Center until a hearing in front of a district court commissioner.
Officials said the incident is isolated to the residence and that there is no ongoing threat to the community. An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
