ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Eta Omicron chapter of Omega Psi Phi served lunch to the Southern Concrete Construction crew working on the Oglethorpe Bridge reconstruction project.
The fraternity is celebrating 114 years since being founded, and the Eta Omicron chapter is marking its achievement week by giving back to community members who work hard without recognition.
Southern Concrete Vice President of Field Operations Anthony Kim Turner said the gesture was surprising since most people are usually upset with how long the bridge is taking to complete.
“It’s just unusual because normally we don’t get a pat on the back, but these guys come on their time freely to support us, and it makes us want to, in the future, maybe support them,” Turner said.
The Eta Omicron chapter of Omega Psi Phi will hold its achievement week until Sunday. The chapter said they will continue to support the community where they can.
