ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – A family is picking up the pieces after a massive fire destroyed their home and longtime racecar shop in Albany Wednesday night.
Homeowner David Moody says no one was home when the fire broke out. The building, which had been a racecar shop since 2008, was completely torn down by the Albany Fire Department as crews worked to contain the blaze.
Moody said oxygen and acetylene tanks, along with propane and paint thinner, were stored on the property and all exploded during the fire.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but Moody says his family lost everything in the destruction.
Authorities continue to investigate what started the blaze.
