CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) - The Camilla Police Department kicked off the holiday season with joy and generosity during its 2nd Annual Shop with a Cop event on Dec. 5, 2025. The program pairs local officers with children for a memorable day of shopping, connection, and community togetherness.
Students selected from Mitchell County Elementary School and Mitchell County Primary School were treated to a special one-on-one shopping experience. Officers walked alongside each child as they picked out gifts, shared conversations, and built positive relationships that extend far beyond the holiday season.

The department says the goal of the event is not only to spread cheer, but also to strengthen trust and unity between youth and law enforcement.
Organizers say the event wouldn’t be possible without the support of community members, generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers who continue to make the program a success year after year.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community, sponsors, and volunteers who make this event possible. Together, we’re ensuring that every child has a brighter holiday season,” the department said in a statement.
The Camilla Police Department looks forward to continuing the tradition and expanding its impact in the years ahead.
